Belmont vs North Beach Soccer Club
AThe North beach Under 19's finally had their first game today against Belmont. The Belmont team were all 17 and 18 year olds and made our young team look as if we had turned up to the wrong ground. The team was a little apprehensive not knowing what we would be up against. It is after all a big jump from under 16's to under 19's.
Against the run of play we scored a goal in the first five minutes, However after 15 minutes I was thinking if we could get away with a 5 or 6 goal loss we would be doing very well. The opposition were all very big and extremely fast. I am happy to say that I was proven wrong. After Belmont went up 3 goals to 1 North beach started counterattacking and pulled the score back to 3 - 2. I have to say that our defence was spectacular with both Craig and Louis having big games. I also need to mention Ben and Jordie who are starting to return to fitness. Although our defence was outpaced they continually stopped the opposition from scoring.
The Mid field also played well and regularly got back to help out the defence. Thanks to Russell who helped us out today with some really good runs, He was continually able to get around his defender and his cross balls set up both goals.
Welcome back to soccer to Kieran, Matt and Jack who played there first games for three years. Jack has stepped in to goal until Jarrod is ok to resume his duties.
Once again well done to all the players, I look forward to another good result next week.
