About North Beach Soccer Club

About North Beach Soccer Club

We welcome back those who have been with us before - for those of you who are new, thank you for choosing to join our Club. We hope you enjoy your time with us this year and stay on for several years after.

North Beach Soccer Club is a non profit organisation - all the money we receive (through registration, sponsorship, fundraising, bar and canteen) is put straight back to you, our members. Everyone at the Club is here to either play soccer or watch their children play soccer. However, for many of us, it's a very important part of our social life as well. We hope you find the time to become more involved in the Club and make it part of your lifestyle.

The Club has two distinct parts, the Juniors and the Seniors. The Committee which runs the Club consists of parents of Juniors, Senior players, and often people who are both. The junior and senior sides of the Club are equally important and we aim to continue to develop both of them.

Juniors

Age range and general information

The range of Junior teams are as follows:

The age groups are based on the age you will be on your birthday THIS year (2005). Players are not allowed to play in age groups below their age. The exception to this are girls who are allowed to play down one age group. Players can play in teams above their age group, although this is frowned upon and it is better for the players to be playing in their own age group.

The emphasis for roo ball soccer is very much about fun and getting the kids out there and kicking a ball. Our coaches are encouraged to go on courses to improve training and hopefully improve the results on the park. We hope to do this without losing the 'fun' factor. Once they get to 11, the soccer is taken more seriously and they start to use full size pitches, normal size soccer balls and full size teams.

When do we play?

All games are played on a Sunday morning. The season starts in early April and finishes in early September. Games are usually played on a home and away basis with all of our home games played at Charles Riley Reserve. These fixtures are usually not available from Football West until very close to the start of the season - often because Clubs are still advising them of the final team numbers they have. The fixtures also try to take into account Easter and the school holidays; however, it's not always possible to do so.

When do we train?

Training is usually held once a week (the older teams train twice) at Charles Riley. Times vary, but it's normally somewhere between 5.00 and 7.00 (but usually only for one hour) either on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Once we know the number of players we have and have organised a coach (if you are interested in being a coach PLEASE let us know) the coach will contact you and advise the training time. Most teams will start training in early March so wait for the call. We know that many of you have preferred times you would like to slot the training into which we will try to take into account. However, we do need to spread the teams across the 3 days otherwise there won't be enough space at the grounds.

How much will it cost?

Please check with our registrar for this years fee scale - we do know we are very cheap compared to many other clubs. Nearly half of the fee is paid to Football West and the rest is used to pay for a whole range of outlays. Each player is responsible for buying their own shorts, socks and boots. We will provide an outlet to purchase these items (and shinpads and other items) at the Clubrooms.

We have a small selection of second hand boots at the Clubrooms available for sale, otherwise they can be bought from most shoe and sport stores. Each team has a designated strip/top that is given out each week for the Sunday game.

Seniors

General information

The club has a long history of senior teams for those a bit older than the juniors and some a lot older than the juniors. Last year we had the two amateur league teams who played together every week on a first and reserves basis and two social teams who played at home the same week as the amateurs. Several of these players have been involved with the club since their junior days, which is something we would like to see continue.

When do we train?

Training is on Tuesdays Wednesday and Thursdays (depending on Amateur or Social status) 6.30pm - 8.00pm.

When do we play?

Games are on a Sunday afternoon on a home and away basis. For home games two teams kick off at 12.45pm and two teams kick off at 3.00pm. For the first and reserves away games these times stay the same, but for the social teams their away games kick off times vary. After all home games, we organise a BBQ for all who want to stay - this has proved very popular in the past and we will continue to do so this year. This is an excellent opportunity to socialise with players and their families as many bring their children along. It would be great to see junior players and parents come along to support the seniors and to have some time to mix these usually separate parts of the club.

We hope to have special training nights when some senior players come along to junior training to help and to show the younger ones that you can still play the game we love when you get older.

Women

The club is continuing to expand - we now have two womens teams and a girls team which train on Wednesdays 6.30 - 8.30pm. All new players are welcome.

Fundraising

During the year we hope to get to know as many of you, the members, as possible. We usually hold a couple of different fund raising activities which we rely on to provide facilities and gear for our members. The most well attended and important one financially for the club is the Annual Quiz Night usually held about the middle of August.
