27th April 2008 North Beach Vs South Perth

Reserves

This was a much anticipated game after starting the season with two wins against slightly weaker sides. The team had a few changes from last week with Tex comming in to gain match fitness after coming back from injury and Marcus being in goal due to Costas absence.

This was a low scoring game with North Beach scoring the only goal in the 13th minute. This resulted from a long goal kick by Marcus, the ball was gathered and held by Russell who then centred the ball to Steve. Steve finished the move by chipping the goalie.

During the next 3 minutes South Perth counter attacked and had three very good shots at goal, one of which hit the post.

15 minutes into the second half coach Alan made some sub with Heath and John coming off for Adam and Steven.

Final sub was George coming on for Russell who was seeing stars after a head knock.

The game was played out with both teams attacking and defending furiously.

First team

Like the reserves game it was known that this would be a very tough game. It was played at very fast pace with both teams continuously running the ball the length of the field. This was the first game for Neill Duffy who slotted into the midfield very nicely.

Simon Bailey had a particularly good first half with him causing all sorts of problems for the south Perth defence and in the next play would be at the other end of the park helping the North Beach defence.

Second half was very similar to the first with the play going from one end of the pitch to the other but neither team being able to put the ball in the net.

One shot that stood out was a shot from Neil Duffy from 30 metre that went like a bullet, only to be pushed wide by the goalie off his gloveless finger tips.

A fantastic effort by the whole team with the competition for places being very high. Tex, Simon and Darren will be due back from injury soon and pushing for inclusion. This is a very good thing for the team and the club.

The social team had a very hard encounter against Canning City coming away with A 1 all draw.

Masters

The masters where also at South Perth and had a very exciting high scoring game. Scoring was opened by John Leeming for North Beach. South Perth then levelled the score at 1 all. NB went ahead again to 2 - 1 only for SP to level again.

With NB once again taking the lead at 3-2 it looked like the game was over however SP scored a controversial goal with claims (Quite correct to) that the scorer was 10 feet offside. The ref was not to be swayed however and it looked like the game would end in a draw. That was until super fill in player "Darren am I riding a bike or rowing a boat Young" scored with a beautiful bicycle kick from 3 feet out from the goal. Darren’s comment was that if he didn’t scissor kick it the goalie would definitely have stopped it....... I know it doesn’t make sense but I think Darren was high on the time

As stated above with play like this from Darren it wont be long until he is back in the first squad.

20th April 2008 North Beach Vs BB United

Reserves

Another good weekend for the boys from North Beach with three wins and a draw. It was started of by the reserves team who had a good win over BB united.

Scoring was started in the 30th minute when Russell took the ball off the BB keeper, was gathered by John and passed to Steve who scored. John was also involved in the next goal when on the 40th minute he passed a lovely ball to Russell who scored

2 - nil half time score probably wasnt a true reflection of the game with NB missing a number of possible goals.

Steve M came out after the half time talk fired up and converted this to a goal in only the 2nd minute of the second half, the ball was deflected by the goalie after a shot by Adam.

Next goal was scored by Russell after beating some players and laying off to Adam J who fed it back to Russell.

On the 20th minute of the half we should have gone ahead 5 - 1 but new daddy Dennis missed a penalty. He did however confound the crowd who all said he would put it over the bar by keeping the ball on ground.

Last goal was again scored by Russell who worked his way through the defence and shot at goal.

First team

North Beach dominated the first half and went to half time 2 nil up.

The first goal was scored by Derek after connecting with a lovely cross by Besty. Second gaol was scored by Kyle MacLean which will also now qualify the macLeans for the Family ladder after Steve scored for the reserves.

BB came out in the second half fired up and quickley leveled the score at 2 all. The game then remained a stalemate for most of the half. The stalemate was finally broken with 3 minutes to go whe Russell tapped in from a fantastic Sean header. This gave Russell 4 for the day and will move him up a few places on the ladder.

Social

The social team had a very tough game. This writer was advised although not confirmed that the oppisition had an ex Australian player in the squad.

NB trailed 1 nil for 89 minutes before the whole team pushed up, the ball broke to Johny at right back then had a lovely cross to the far post and 6 foot 5 inch Davey (Just joking about the height) scored with a lovely diving header.

Masters

Won 2 - nil with goals to Darren and yet another to Johny Leeming.

Women Div 2

2 all draw with Donna Bales scoring both goals

Women Div 4

A fine win 3 nil courtesy of a forfeit from the opposition team

U18

No games due to school holidays

13 April 2008

13th April North Beach Vs Morley Windmills

Reserves

2008 league matches got underway and proved very succesfull for North Beach. First up where the reserves who where smarting after having their cup run terminated last week by the Maddington first team.

They came out firing and it wasnt long before Heath Sinclair slotted home a goal that was nicely set up by Russell Sinclair. Although we had most of the posession and time in the opposition 22 we were not able to score any more before half tme. The opposition however did score against the run of play.

Half time 1 all

At half time Alex Cirkovic came on and a lovley cross from him found the waiting head of Heath and NB went ahead.

Half way through the second half Russell made a good run through the opposition, Laid the ball off to Jake who returned it to Russell who then scored. The last goal was scored by George not long after he came on t the pitch.

Great effort from the whole team and look forward to next week.

First team

The firsts were also looking to bury the ghosts of the failed cup campaign. The game was very even for the first 20 minutes until North Beach went ahead through a nicley executed goal from Shaun Cunningham. The game then stayed very even until the half time whistle

Half Time 1 Nil to NB

North beach came out firing in the second half and it wasnt long before Shaun showed some of his magic vollying a ball straight into the net from a Derek free kick. Scoring was finished off by a good goal from Derek.

This was a good effort from NB and will certainly give confidence for the comming season.

U18's

No games due to School Holidays

So here is the ladder. Simon is continuing his great form and now leads the table from Davy and Hank. It looks like it will be a big goal scoring season for the socials.

Simon will need to get one of his brothers to score if they are to get on to the Family Scoring Ladder.

The U18's were not able to add to thier tally due to having no games this weekend.

2 Sept 2007

The last weekend was one of the biggest goal scoring weekends of the year. This was a result of the Masters scoring 12 the reserves netting 7 and the social team scoring 4.

It was also great to see three new names on the goal scoring list. Well done to

Marco Lagana  (Masters)
Alan Taylor       (Masters)
Louis Hughes    (Socials and U19)

Special mention there to Louis (Yes another defender joins the list) who finally managed to get one in the net. It was also good to see Adam Ridgeway score for the social premier team to go with his two for the Under 19's.

The Leeming's made a late burst for the family trophy with the two of them scoring a combined 8 goals. This was however partially offset by Russell Sinclair scoring 4 in the reserves game and two of the Mclean boys each scoring in their respective games.

Well no more bullshit and lets look at the list.

August 5 2007

Simon Geldhart keeps his recent scoring run going with 2 against his old team Olympic Kingsway and Kyle MacClean fresh back from a trip to the snowfields wastes no time in getting back into the swing of fooball and scoring goals again!

Under 19’s go on a rampage whilst the men’s teams continue their winning ways.

With the under 19 team having a well deserved 10 nil win there has been some real movement on the goal scoring ladder.Keiran Rowlands got 4 which has moved him to second equal and a hat trick to Adam Ridgewell has moved him to 5th.

Well done also to Darryl Malam who has continued his scoring ways taking his tally to 6, with 4 of these over the last two week.

With both Heath and Russell Sinclair scoring goals the Sinclair’s have moved to 28 goals and 5 clear of the MacLean’s. We almost had another family join the list with Jordan Traill having a shot at goal, unfortunately this was saved by the keeper.

29 July 2007

A brace from Neil Perkins and another from Dan Mason give the First Team the points against Belmont Villa.

While in the reserves Darryl Malam scores a hat trick, with the help of two penalties. Two from Russell Sinclair, thereby streching his lead attthe top of the goalscorers chart, with his nearest rival, the Social team's top scorer Richie drawing a blank in a shock 3-0 loss to cellar dwellars Shamrock Rovers. A Dennis Perrie stike, doubling his tally for the season rounded out the scoring.

Mick Frost joins the list aftert his first for the season in the Masters 4-1 loss to Belmont Villa.

At this stage until I hear from Stuey I dont know who scored the U19's goal in their 1-1 draw with Whitfords City, where unfortunately Jarrad broke his armafter only coming back from injury a couple of weeks ago after being out injured since May continuing his year of dreadfully bad luck.

The family scoring chart sees the Sinclairs move further ahead, and a second Frost enables them joins in. Now we are just waiting on a second Smith and as usual the second Etheridge to pull their socks up.
